It was the first of our Water Safety Awareness Sessions on Sunday at the Galloway Activity Centre, and what a beautiful day it was on Loch Ken.

16 enthusiastic young people came along to learn new skills and have some fun on the water. The sessions covered water safety, an introduction to paddleboarding and the dangers of cold water shock.

Everyone got to try different paddleboard strokes and had a go at rescuing someone back on their paddleboard.

We were delighted that every single participant achieved their completion certificate.

The free session was funded by The Holywood Trust, and we would like to thank them for supporting this project.

We would also like to thank the fantastic staff and instructors at the Galloway Activity Centre for delivering these sessions.

If you are interested in taking part in a free Youth Water Safety Session, or if you have a group that would be interested in being involved, please email Lktoffice@protonmail.com
